In this week’s topic we look deeper into the idea of Marshall McLuhan’s framework
‘the medium is the message’ and come to understand the importance and initial meaning of convergence which is what characterises people’s uniqueness.
We explore the way in which the medium that individuals choose to communicate through holds just as much or even more value in the message alone.
We can see this through the example provided through the website below about how the well acts as the point of intersection. Being the medium between life and water. Illustrating the impact the well creates is even bigger than the water itself. It is the fundamental base/ need that it provides in order for someone to receive water and therefore live.
If we look at the internet, it is the core medium between an individual’s ideas and the answers/ inspiration to these ideas.
Overall, the medium moulds and shapes the individual’s perception of the message and additionally provides a substance that if a medium did not exist, then the message would be inaccessible.
