In this week’s lecture we discovered the depths of ‘Privacy, Surveillance, and the Price of Content’ which is extremely terrifying for most people in today’s society.
Almost every person I know have shared their fear of their phones listening to them, and so have I personally. There seems to be some configuration that every conversation or message or image or scrolling through on your phone, then somehow pops up on every single internet platform possible. Scary right!
This shows how little privacy people really have on the internet which can create big problems. Just the other day I mentioned my love for Oreos, and now on my tik-toks there are tutorials on how to make Oreo milkshakes, while on my Instagram there are Oreo ads viewed EVERYWHERE. It is creeping me out.
In the modern day, your life is basically not private anymore as billions of people rely heavily on mobile phones that then listen to you non-stop throughout the day.
On top of that, surveillance cameras are distributed literally anywhere on the street, in a shop or even at your home. This is recording at all times for the government for safety purposes or collect overall information from the public.
Basically, it’s not right to think everything you say or do near your phone is safe, because in reality you are being tracked or listened to at all times.
